Analysis of the match between Bayern and Leipzig
Bayern Munich head into the new season in fine form. The Bavarians have won their last four matches, including a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart in the German Super Cup that boosted the confidence of Vincent Kompanyโs men. Riding this winning momentum, Bayern have every reason to believe they can overpower Leipzig.
Home advantage will also play a key role. Bayern have won all four of their most recent games at the Allianz Arena, keeping three clean sheets in the process. History is also on their side โ in their last 10 home meetings with Leipzig, Bayern recorded six wins, three draws, and just one defeat.
Leipzig, on the other hand, are showing signs of struggle. They have managed only three wins in their last 11 matches across all competitions. Their away form has been equally concerning, with just four victories, five draws, and as many as 10 defeats from their previous 19 trips. Such inconsistency will hardly inspire confidence as they visit Munich.
Adding to their woes, Leipzig have been weakened by several key departures. Ilaix Moriba, Andre Silva, Yussuf Poulsen, and most notably Benjamin Sesko โ who joined Manchester United โ have all left, while reinforcements have been minimal. Bayern, in contrast, strengthened significantly, highlighted by the marquee signing of Luis Dรญaz from Liverpool.
Given the disparity in both form and squad strength, it would come as no surprise if Bayern Munich made a statement in their Bundesliga 2025/26 opener by dismantling Leipzig at the Allianz Arena.
